ISES Cleveland Announces New Board of Directors

ISES Cleveland Announces New Board of Directors

Cleveland, Ohio, June 29, 2011: The Cleveland Chapter of the International Special Events Society (ISES Cleveland), Cleveland’s premier society for event professionals, announced its new board following the Annual Board Retreat on June 28, 2011. The board has a new President, President-Elect, Vice President of Communications, and two new Directors-at-Large, as well as two continuing Vice Presidents and four continuing Directors.  The Immediate Past President will continue to serve in an advisory position.

“As a Founding Director of ISES Cleveland, I applaud the efforts of all involved over the past 4 years  as they raised the bar of professionalism, created more networking opportunities and established positive working relationships with our colleagues in the special events industry,” said ISES Cleveland President, Deborah Smythe Hermann of Ghostlight Productions.  “I look forward to continuing this legacy of success as President and working with this remarkable group of dedicated professionals on the 2011-2012 Board of Directors”

ISES Cleveland’s new Board of Directors is:

President, Deborah Smythe Hermann
Deb is the CEO and Chair Babe of Ghostlight Productions.  Deb formerly served as the President-Elect.

President-Elect, Laura Cahill-Hoffman
Laura is the Coordinator of Community and Media Relations at Lake Health.  Laura formerly served as the Vice President of Communications (2010-2011) and as a Director-at-Large (2008-2010).  She served on the Education and Programs Committee (2008-2009) and the Communications Committee (2009-2011).

Immediate Past President, Matthew Radicelli
Matt is the Founder/Owner of Rock the House Entertainment Group.  Matt formerly served as the President (2010-2011), as the President-Elect (2009-2010), as the Vice President of Membership (2008-2009), and as a Director-at-Large (2007-2008).  He served on the Membership Committee (2007-2009) and on the Communications Committee (2009-2010).

Vice President of Education and Programs, Rachael Fuller
Rachael is the Special Event Facility Manager at the Cleveland Zoological Society.  Rachel continues in her second year as the Vice President of Education and Programs.  Rachael has served on the Education and Programs Committee for four years.

Vice President of Communication, Anna-Jeannine Herman
Anna-Jeannine is the Creative and Talent Director at Something New Entertainment.  Anna-Jeannine formerly served as the Director of Communications (2011), and as a Communication Committee member (2010).

Vice President of Membership, Scott Pickel
Scott is the Owner of Everything Tented.  Scott continues in his second year as the Vice President of Membership.

Director-at-Large, Barbara Felt
Barbara works in Destination Management Services for Positively Cleveland.  Barbara continues in her second year as a Director-at-Large serving on the Membership Committee.

Director-at-Large, Shannon Harris, Cleveland Marriott
Shannon is the Catering Sales Manager at the Cleveland Marriott at Key Center.  Shannon is serving in her first term as a Director-at-Large this year.  Shannon continues to serve in her second year for the Education and Programs Committee.

Director-at-Large, Vincent Iannaggi
Vince is the Director of Business Development for L’Nique Specialty Linen Rental.  Vince is serving in his first term as a Director-at-Large this year.  Vince continues to serve on the Events Committee.

Candice works in Convention Services for Kalahari Resort.  Candice continues in her third year as a Director-at-Large.  Candice has served on the Education and Program Committee for four years.

Jim is a Sales Account Executive at Event Source.  Jim continues in his third year as a Director-at-Large.  Jim has served on the Membership Committee since 2007.

ISES Cleveland Members and Guests Learn How to Create Raving Fans with ActionCoach Wayne Bergman

Earlier this month, ISES Cleveland Members and guests spent another productive lunch enjoying beautiful and delicious food provided by newly-inducted ISES Cleveland member Pamela Waterman and Duet Catering, as well as a thought-provoking presentation by local ActionCoach Wayne Bergman learning about how a great group of “raving fans” can catapult your business to new heights, why you should spend time cultivating your own garden of “raving fans,”  and what steps you as a business owner can take to make your happy clients want to spread the word about your business.

The event was hosted by Scott Pickel and Everything Tented, who set up a tent within their warehouse to allow us all to enjoy the tent experience, despite the cold weather.  Sound services were provided by Matt Radicelli and Rock the House Entertainment Group.  Linens and tableware were provided by Event Source.

ISES – Cleveland Chapter Seeks Presenters for Technology Showcase

The Cleveland Chapter of the International Special Event Society is hosting a technology showcase on Tuesday, February 8, 2011. Presenters are needed to demonstrate steps towards capturing sales using the latest trends in mobile technology, web based software, online collaboration tools, content and strategic meeting management systems, and ROI measurements. This event is open to meeting and event professionals looking to broaden their knowledge and learn new tools to capture, wow, and retain clients.

Presenters must be willing to share and demonstrate their knowledge, service, and/or product to attendees through a visual aid and a question and answer scenario. There are no fees associated with being a presenters.

Member Spotlight — Anna-Jeannine Herman, Something New Entertainment

Anna-Jeannine Herman, Creative Director and Talent Manager for Something New Entertainment (and sub-brand Atomic Entertainment), has over 10 years experience in the theatre and design industries, both on- and off-stage, as an actor, an acting and vocal coach, a wardrobe technician, a stitcher, a draper, a costume/hair/makeup designer, a teacher, a graphic artist and branding strategist, a vocalist, and a brass player (mainly horn and trumpet). Anna-Jeannine is originally from Knoxville, Tennessee is frequently found complaining about the necessity of socks here in Northeast Ohio.

After Bachelor’s studies in Theatre, Design, and Communication, Anna-Jeannine completed graduate work in Costume Design, where she met future husband and business partner, Justin Herman, a lighting and sound technician and designer with a small DJ company called Atomic Entertainment.

In addition to her administrative and artistic work for Something New Entertainment, Anna-Jeannine remains active in the field and in the community as a DJ/MC and lighting designer and in volunteer efforts for a number of causes close to her heart, including AIDS and Breast Cancer awareness and research, the arts, and the fair and equitable treatment of all people through including organizations as the Northern Ohio Breast Cancer Coalition Fund (NOBCCF), the Humility of Mary Life Opportunity Services (H.M. Life), the Community AIDS Network and Akron Pride Initiative (CANAPI).  She also maintains the ISES Cleveland blog and help manage social media presence as part of the Communications Committee.

Anna-Jeannine enjoys cooking, entertaining, writing, singing, blogging, getting dressed up and having her photograph taken, making crafts out of unlikely materials, talking about other people’s weddings and she is well-known for of her chronic Facebook addiction. She can keep a secret, loves pink, is a natural redhead, and can guarantee that you will win fair and square if you challenge her to a game of bowling or golf.
