ISES Cleveland Vice President of Communications, Nick Borelli, (of Rock The House) has been chosen to represent the Midwest region of the United States.
The Champions, chosen from the seven key membership regions within the US, Canada, EMEA and Australasia, will work with the ISES Marketing & Communications Team to support the roll out of the new strategy and message to the event associations 6,000 members around the world. The new ISES Brand Vision ‘The Principal Association Representing the Creative Events Professional, Globally’ will be formally launched at ISES Live, in Nassau, The Bahamas, in August.

Kathy Miller, ISES International President, said;
- “Our Brand Champions have been selected for their outstanding commitment to ISES in their regions and for their ability to be able to inspire our members and partners throughout the world as we begin to tell the next part of the ISES story and continue to evolve as the only truly global event association”.
Nick has this to say about his new position:
- “I’m excited to have a role in what has been an exciting transformation to ISES in the past year. I saw the seeds of this new branding while attending the 2012 Event World in Dallas and then was really impressed to see how they had grown at the ISES Leadership Retreat in Chicago earlier this year. The branding strategy that has been rolled out is both cutting edge and challenging. It’s challenging in that its challenges many’s interpretations of what it means to be part of the event industry. Previous definitions of our industry never pushed the envelope far enough until I read the new vision statement for ISES. We are creative people before we are anything else. Making our communications less formal and more creative is part of the job description of the Brand Champion that I find the most exciting. I hope to be a resource to all the Midwest chapters in their efforts to communicate to their members and beyond. We are ISES!”

2013Will I See You on 4/19?
I had the pleasure of attending my first ISES Awards show last year for the Ohio WOW Awards in Columbus. What a wonderful experience! I was new to ISES at the time. And just learning about the organization, and everything it has to offer a member. I have to say, I felt so welcomed. As the new kid on the block, I was introduced to so many people in our industry. It was an amazing event! What a great way to see the talents, and works of the best in Ohio, showcased under one roof. I feel that it truly benefited myself, and my company by giving us the opportunity to become familiar with others in our industry. The Wow Awards not only provided a great networking experience, but an inner connection between these top event professionals. It was amongst one of my top events I have attended so far. It really helped to kick things in gear for me. I have since experienced growth within ISES. I have become a member of the events committee, and a Director At Large for the Cleveland Board. My advise to anyone who is undecided about attending this event is, if you want to grow, and witness what ISES is all about, and has to offer, come get “WOW’d”!

2012Education, Networking, and Friends
I became a member of ISES Cleveland in 2009 and was eager to join a committee and get involved. I was an active member on the Programs & Education committee in the beginning then soon after joined the board in 2010. I continued to see value in the volunteer work that the board & committee members put forth towards the organization. Shortly moved in the roll of VP of Programs and Education in 2011.
I originally joined ISES for the education and to be up on the latest industry trends. I continue to be a member and involvement for these reasons and because of the connections and friendships. ISES provides me a wonderful opportunity for education, networking, personal and professional growth.

2012ISES Event World 2012-Dallas,Texas
If you have never been to an industry convention, I strongly recommend attending one at your next opportunity. I’m involved in one and attend several others every year. My most recent trip was to Dallas, Texas to attend Event World. My focus for the convention was attending the various ISES leadership meetings and receptions.
The general meeting was aimed at sharing information on upcoming ISES initiatives like; programs and education toolkits, a speaker database and an entire revamp of the ISES website. The general leadership meetings I attended gave me insight, ideas and inspiration on how I can become a better leader for our Cleveland chapter. The two receptions I attended were creative and fun. They also gave me an opportunity to meet some of the great international board members.
The highlight of the conference was clearly the annual meeting. This yearly meeting recognizes the board of directors, the passing of the gavel to a new President, and includes the much anticipated Spirit of Excellence Awards. These awards are a celebration of the best chapters in the ISES landscape. Attending an annual meeting is an uplifting experience and a true show of the spirit of each chapter and region.
I hope that someday each of you get the opportunity to share in the spirit of ISES in this very special way.

2012The Outdoors…Indoors!
Our outdoor themed event was brought indoors due to the weather. This is always something to consider when planning an event in Cleveland. Since we are the best in Cleveland’s event industry we were more than prepared! Event Source brought their umbrellas and decor inside to create an atmosphere of the outdoors inside the beautiful Airport Marriott Hotel. Outdoor cookout food like homemade chili, hot dogs, hamburgers, and fruit made for a perfect evening and end to the summer for friends and colleagues.
